The Hong Kong Film Awards and the BOCHK Art Prize 2025The Hong Kong Film Awards and the BOCHK Art Prize 2025
The Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA), organized and administered annually by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society, honoring exceptional works of cinema in Hong Kong. Voting takes place each January through March; winners are revealed during an awards ceremony held annually in April.
Since 1984, the Hong Kong Film Awards has been the pinnacle event in Hong Kong’s movie industry. Not only does HKFA serve as an outlet for local film workers to showcase their talent, but it is also used as an important vehicle to enhance Hong Kong’s cultural reputation both domestically and abroad.
This year’s award ceremony will take place on 15 December in an elegant event at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and be attended by representatives from governmental agencies, sponsoring enterprises and distinguished guests. A jury composed of experts and scholars from Hong Kong and abroad will evaluate candidates based on academic achievements, research proposals, innovation achievements and their applications to science and technology for social benefit.
Jimmy Lai, Cheuk Hang-tung, Gwyneth Ho, Joshua Wong and Lee Cheuk-yan have been nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. Through writings, speeches and political activism these Hongkongers have opposed mainland attempts to undermine the “one country, two systems” principle outlined in Hongkong’s Basic Law.
At today’s BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2023 awards ceremony, fencing star Vivian Kong took home gold for women’s individual epee while swimmer Siobhan Haughey won bronze medals in both 200m freestyle events – both athletes are expected to earn bonuses totalling around HK$12 Million under Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Schemes.
Tiger Brokers will join AVA to promote young artistic talent in Hong Kong with the BOCHK Art Prize 2025, an award which honors exceptional graduate works that embody innovative vision and societal significance. A jury will assess projects according to innovation, conceptual depth, public resonance and professional execution with particular consideration given to those that focus on technological elements, financial themes or critical reflections on our future.
Moreover, the winner will receive a cash prize of HK$25,000 and certificate, in addition to being invited to attend an AVA mentorship programme where they can hone their professional skills and expand their network in the arts industry. The BOCHK Art Prize is proudly supported by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited.
