Singapore Prize will award its winner with an eye-watering cash prize of up to US$1 Million – this represents an enormous sum of money for any athlete, especially one who has had to put in many hours and money training for it. Athletes often train tirelessly over many years in order to qualify for Olympic competition, spending vast sums of money along the way; winning this cash prize will allow winners to pursue their sporting ambitions further.
The winning team will also have the chance to vie for an additional prize pool of US$3 Million from investment funds and partners of The Earthshot Prize, in addition to their main prize money and accessing an extensive network of experts who can accelerate solutions that address climate change.
This year’s competition will include a unique ‘Earthshot Week’ in Singapore where global leaders, businesses and investors will come together to explore exciting opportunities with Earthshot Prize finalists and winners. Furthermore, local activations activities will allow public engagement with The Earthshot Prize and its partners.
This year’s competition theme is resonance, and judges selected submissions that demonstrate this concept in various forms of writing. Five writers were shortlisted in two or more categories, including Clara Chow, who made history by being shortlisted across three sections and two languages – becoming the first writer ever in program history to do so!
A healthy civil society relies on individuals who are dedicated to their communities and who, at pivotal moments, put the common good before individual self-interest. This value of altruism has long been recognized by Harvard University who established their Prize in 1884 to honour and encourage this behavior.
This year’s winners of Harvard Prize Book Singapore will receive both a trophy and medallion as well as the honorary title “Honorary Fellow of Harvard College”. Additionally, they will attend a four-week programme curated by Vogue at World Economic Forum Singapore that provides them with tools and insights from laureates as well as networking with other alumni of global business community.
